NEWS! (11/20/06) UK tour a success, Folkwit Records a big help, new record about to be released, residency at the Abbey…
I spent the better half of October on tour in the UK hitting several cities and towns such as Chichester, Brighton, Hastings, Margate, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Whitwick (Loughborough), Dent, Ravenstonedale, and of course London. I had some great help from Folkwit Records who set me up with some shows and even a host in London, they have agreed to put out my new record in the UK in 2007, so I’ll be back there to tour, tentatively in May 2007. In other news my long awaited full length is just about ready to be released, the hold up is mainly in finding an US indie label to release it, several have been interested, it’s just a matter of securing one, but the plan is to have it out early in 2007. All the material I’ve recorded between my first full length can be purchased as EPs at my live shows for $5 if anyone is dying to hear some new stuff. All of November I have a residency at the Abbey Lounge with Stephen Brodsky (our power duo is jokingly named “Bad Marriage”) so come out to the Abbey, it’s a fun time, there is an article in “the Metro” this coming Tuesday, November 21st, so check that out. Lots more shows too all over the Northeast, find it on here or at www.myspace.com/audreyryan
Spending the summer recording with Stephen Brodsky who is also now playing some shows with me on drums. We’ve tentatively named our power duo “Bad Marriage”, come check it out, we have a residency at the Middle East Corner most Thursdays in July and early August (7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3), there’s NO COVER…My friend Tom Stipe has helped me give this old website a facelift, I’ve neglected this poor old site for months now, and I apologize to anyone who has visited only to find there isn’t any updates. For those of you on myspace keep up with me there as well (www.myspace.com/audreyryan). Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. I’m working on a tour in Europe this fall (UK, France, Germany, Holland…) so keep posted about that.
The new record is nearly done, we’re in the final stages of mixing and mastering and hope to have it finished by the end of the month. Once that happens we plan to shop it to some good indie labels and release it sometime in 2006. In the meantime feel free to listen to three of the songs (”Shiny Things”, “Free”, “Sirens”) posted on Audrey’s myspace at http://www.myspace.com/audreyryan. The record has been worked on with several people like Dave Westner (who did the debut “passing thru”), Chris Rochon, Hrishi Hirway, and Nick Zampiello. And it sounds great, a little more in the indie rock/pop direction and less jazzy like the first record. There are also some good shows coming up in 2006 plus Audrey’s playing with some new musicians like drummer Dave Moore and bassist Barry Gross (who has actually played several shows but has been in Europe for the past 8 months or so). In any event, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and Happy New Year…
For those of you who didn’t know we turned the loft into a recording studio and Audrey and Chris Rochon have been working there putting together some new material in the DIY tradition. The new material is coming together, some of the songs we’ve never played live but sound great on cubase so far. In order to focus on recording we’ve decided to take a bit of a hiatus this fall from gigging unless the gigs come and sit in our laps. We hope to have an amazing second record out for you sometime this winter once it all comes together. So please stay tuned, and check shows in case we have any last minute gigs this fine fine autumn.
We’ll be headed up to Maine and then down to North Carolina and West Virginia on our late summer tour, check out dates on “shows” and pass them on to anyone you know in DC, Chapel Hill, Asheville, Charleston, ect… We’re also re-working and expanding our EP into a new full-length CD that we hope to release late this fall or sometime this winter. In any event we’re taking a break from heavy gigging and touring to concentrate on re-working our material and recording the new songs for this release which we’re very excited about. However, we’re performing at NEMO on Saturday, October 1st @1pm and that will be our big show for the early fall, the song “Nostalgia” will be featured on the Sonicbids compilation too, definite check out NEMO at www.nemoboston.com.
The Band composed of Jarrett Cherner, Paul Findlen, and Austin McMahon just recorded a new 5-song EP that we are unofficially releasing; it’s unpressed, not in stores, the real deal only distributed at our shows starting on Thursday, June 23rd at the Lizard Lounge. We have plans this summer to expand it possibly to a full length CD and officially release it later, in the meantime enjoy the new material. Also this summer we will be touring up to Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and then down South to NYC, DC, MD area in July so stay tuned to that and enjoy the sun.
